When the procession arrived on the lawns of the Castle, one of the
most important tasks was to organise three cheers for Dixie Lee...

Lawns
... and it couldn't have been more deserved.
Dixie has been a stalwart of the town's May Day celebrations for 30 years.
Sadly, 2005 will be the last time that she heads the procession as she has
decided to hang up those exotic outfits and take a well earned break. Of course,
the smile will remain!
An awful lot has changed around the town in those 30 years....
not least of all at the Horsebridge. On Monday, we captured this shot of Dixie
under the bow of the new "upturned boat-shaped" Arts & Community
Centre....

But some things never alter.... including the need to guide Jack
(the talking bush) down that precarious slope at the Castle Grounds.....

It is so sad that we won't be seeing Dixie lead the Oyster
Morris into action on May Monday
anymore....

.... and it's time to say a big thank you for 30 years of service to
Whitstable...
Thanks a Million, Dixie!
